Class of 2019 Graduation Information

Looking Your Best at Graduation

High school graduation is a momentous occasion that marks both the end of students' preparatory education and the beginning of each graduating student's path toward their own future.  The ceremony is an event that families and students will remember for many years to come.  We encourage students to look their best and dress the part for this occasion; to honor their own and their classmates' accomplishments and to present themselves to their families and community as young adults prepared to take on the next chapters of their lives.

Guidelines for Dress and Grooming at River City High School Graduation:

  • All graduates will wear and cap and gown during the ceremony.  Caps and gowns may be purchased or borrowed from the high school.  See the menu bar in the upper left of this page for more information.
  • Caps may be tastefully and appropriately decorated according to directions posted on this site and given to students.
  • Suggested dress for men:  dress slacks, collared shirt and tie, dress shoes.
  • Suggested dress for women:  dress, skirt or dress pants and blouse, dress shoes.
  • High heels are not recommended as graduates will be walking on grass, dirt and concrete and up and down stairs.

Change in Procedure for Graduation Tickets

River City High School’s graduation ceremony for the Class of 2018 will take place on June 5, 2019 at

7 pm at Raley Field.  Gates open at 5 pm and parking is free. All attendees will need a ticket to enter Raley Field except for children under the age of three; sitting on a lap.

In the past, all graduates received ten tickets for family to attend RCHS’ graduation ceremony.  We recognize that some larger families have had to ask for or buy extra graduation tickets to accommodate the number of people in their family.  Others have sold unneeded extra tickets for a personal profit.  Beginning with the Class of 2018, River City High School will change the procedure for obtaining tickets to the River City High School graduation ceremony to a request system so that all families may have an opportunity to share in their graduate’s celebration.

All graduates (early, mid-term or spring graduates) will receive a Graduation Ticket Request form.  Mid-term graduates will receive the form in December 2018.  All other graduates will receive the form in January 2019.

Graduates should fill out the Graduation Ticket Request Form with their name, student ID number, parent name, signature and contact number and the number of tickets being requested.  Parent/guardians need to sign the form acknowledging the number of tickets requested.  Graduates need to turn the form into the Assistant Principals’ office at River City High School.

Graduates should request the exact number of tickets that they need for the members of their family to attend the graduation ceremony.  We ask that you only invite immediate family/close friends whose attendance would be meaningful to your graduate.  There are enough tickets for everyone, but there is a limited number.  By only requesting the number of tickets absolutely necessary, all graduates’ families will be able to participate in this momentous occasion.  We appreciate your cooperation in making sure everyone who needs a ticket can have one.

The school may contact the parent or guardian regarding the ticket request if questions arise.

All ticket requests must be turned in by April 11, 2019.  Any graduate who does not turn in a ticket request form will receive ten tickets.  All graduates will receive the tickets they have requested for the ceremony AFTER the graduation rehearsal on June 4, 2019.
