Mock Trial Case Brief Released Posted 9/7/18

Attached is the case brief for People vs Klein

For the 2018-19 school year, Criminal Law / Mock Trial will be offered both fall and spring terms. Seniors should take the course in fall, since there is no separate senior final for this course in the spring.

Criminal Law / Mock Trial is a class for students in grades 10-12 interested in the legal system, court procedures, and understanding law in everyday life, as well as developing public speaking and critical thinking skills necessary for conducting a Mock Trial. Using the popular “Street Law” curriculum and Mock Trial case materials developed by the Constitutional Rights Foundation, students will learn about the American legal system through traditional study and by preparing and participating in an in-class criminal Mock Trial. Students in the Law class are encouraged, but not required, to participate on River City High School’s Mock Trial competition team.

The Criminal Law / Mock Trial final is a performance of a complete Mock Trial. All students must perform as either attorneys or witnesses in order to pass the class. Parents, grandparents, administrators, and teachers serve as the jury and help score.
