Sacramento Habitat for Humanity

Description:  Sacramento Habitat for Humanity's mission is to put love into action by bringing people together to build hope, homes, and communities.  We build homes for low-income families in Sacramento County using volunteer efforts and community support.  We also operate a retail operation called the Sacramento Habitat for Humanity ReStore which resells new and used materials. 

Volunteer Opportunities: Building on a Habitat construction site (no construction skills needed!) or volunteering in the Sacramento Habitat for Humanity ReStore (basic retail duties such as stocking, pricing, accepting donations, customer service, etc).

Min Age: 16-17 with a parent, 18+ does not need parent

St. John’s Shelter Program for Women and Children

Description: Assists families in transitioning from crisis to self-sustainability. It is the only shelter in Sacramento that exclusively supports homeless women with children. We offer a 90-day program that is rooted in one-on-one case management. Also we offer weekly classes and workshops such as job skills and training, parenting, fitness and nutrition, budgeting and financial management, basic computer skills, domestic counseling, mental health counseling, and drug and alcohol treatments programs.

Volunteer Opportunities: Help in the donation center, children’s program, kitchen, career center
