Monday's lockdown update; school resumes Tuesday

During first period Monday, River City High School went into lockdown and later into an early release/evacuation of the campus due to an anonymous voicemail threat left on the campus message system. West Sacramento Police were on campus immediately, and students were never in any danger. Students and staff cooperated with West Sac PD and the campus was cleared by about 3pm.

On Monday afternoon the West Sacramento Police Department Investigations unit arrested a male juvenile who attends River City High School for a violation of California Penal Code section 422, making Criminal Threats, which is a felony.

If any members of the public have any further information regarding this incident, we encourage you to contact the West Sacramento Police Department at (916) 375-6275.

Please be advised that school will be back in session Tuesday, which also happens to be a previously scheduled collaboration minimum day.

We know how difficult this type of ordeal is to cope with—school counselors and support personnel will be available on campus to assist teachers and students tomorrow and throughout the remainder of the week as needed.

Please do not hesitate to contact the RCHS main office at (916) 375-7800 with additional questions.
